Weight tracks fairly closely with power rating and with internal construction: units with heavy heatsinks and transformers weigh considerably more than transformerless designs of the same output. In practice the threshold that matters is whether one person can lift the unit onto a wall bracket or whether the job needs two, which affects labour on every installation. Hybrid inverters carry additional battery-side electronics and are generally heavier than plain grid-tied models of comparable AC output. Always check the wall substrate — masonry and stud walls have very different limits.
