Maximum DC Input Voltage
SpecificationThe absolute highest DC voltage that may be applied to the inverter's input terminals without risk of damage. It is a hard limit, not an operating recommendation, and exceeding it can destroy the input stage and void the warranty.
The design case for this limit is the coldest expected morning with the array open-circuit and not yet producing, because a module's open-circuit voltage rises as temperature falls. String length must be calculated against Voc at the site's record low temperature, not against the voltage seen on a normal day. Getting this wrong is one of the few PV design mistakes that is both easy to make on paper and immediately expensive in hardware. Residential units cluster around a few common ceilings, so the limit often decides how many modules a string can hold.
